We use the kit function for apparel orders.
This is needed badly because when creating an order you have no idea whether you have enough inventory to complete the order.
The system does not tell you which item is short. This becomes an issue when you have selected several items. You have run the inventory report and go line be line before placing each order.
This becomes very tedious to manage inventory and place orders. This has been a complaint from our client for a while.
I totally agree that this funtionality would be great. I just found yours after entering the same idea "Display individual inventory levels for each item in a KIT rather than an inventory for the entire kit." Hopefully they are already in process of getting this completed.
Any updates on this? Looks like it's not had any comments for a couple years. It is very frustrating for clients when they get a generic message that says "Unfortunately there is not enough inventory of "product name" to fulfill your request." They have no idea which size(s) or color(s) that is out of inventory, and are unable to place their order. When it could just be one size or one color that is causing the entire kit order to not complete. Example 5 sizes, they need 5 qty each, one size only has 2 available. As it stands now, there is no way for the user to know this and they can't place the order for the other 22 shirts they need. If rebuilding the functionality for kits or a better way to handle apparel and other choic products, is a far reach, how about updating the generic message to indicate which kit item(s) is unavailable at that time. Obviously, not a complete fix, but at least helpful while the full development on the permanent fix can be done.
Sorry Rahat,,, where this will be is that at the time we redesign the inventory section,, we'll be albe to fix the dissconnect between items in a kit not being able to show for inventory. It's us being able to overcome some inital design flaws.
FYI - My email address is rkhan@ozsinc.com.
Trent, this is Rahat. It's been a while since I submitted this. This functionality needs to go in the user function. I am not sure how the re-designed admin will help this. Let me know if you need further explanation.
Thanks Steve, and on the rkhan@'s comment not sure what the email was. Could it be that the status changed at that time.
Steve to update your comment,, part our re-designed admin you'll see coming in 2021 is that we'll move the inventory function "Up" to the preferences area, similar to what we just did wtih taxes. That way it's a single inventory entry that can be referenced by any/all sites. at that time we will address the Kitting issue where there is a dissconnect with Kits - to -inventory.
This is a valuable request. You should also be able to see how many of an item you currently have, how many are on allocation based on the orders that have come in, and if there are any that would be on backorder based on the current orders. Once an item is replenished it should easily show you what order have a back order for this item so you can fulfill tham order without having to run a report.
Trent,
What does this mean?
