Abilty to assign workstation permission to have access to Barcode Scanner, BUT not allow them to have access to sitewide preferences or other admin permissions.
Production needs to be able to update the status of the job as it moves through production. Either separate out the Tools permissions in the groups from the Admin permissions, so users/workstations can have access to the Barcode Scanner area only, or even better yet, create a separate utility program that can run independently to just scan jobs in and out of department via workflow status changes.
Production needs to be able to scan the barcode and update status to "check-in" the job into their department, then scan it to "check-out" the job from their department. i.e. Press Operator finishes printing and scan's barcode and updates status to "Bindery" then Bindery does the necessary work, then scan's the barcode and updates the status to be "to Shipping"

Hi Cynthia, by chance did you create an admin user group for Production Staff? You can limit the backend access so not all users can access the same areas. Not all areas can be locked out but we were able to set up our so staff can login and see orders, No preferences, for individual sites the orders tab can be accessed but no other settings such as Navigation or products, and then the tools tab is accessible but not the report writer.
This allows production staff to login at their stations and either use the barcode scanner to track or look up order details without the worry that settings could possibly be changed.
