Ability to Allow Split Payments

I would like to have the ability to offer split tender for payment.  This would come in especially handy when a customer is allowed to order up to a certain amount to be invoiced, and would like to pay the remaining amount with a credit card.  Additionally, when paired with my other request for a gift card, it would be extremely handy when their gift card only has enough to pay for a portion of their order.

We have had this request come to us many times. In some cases, users are ordering several products for different divisions, for example. They want to place one order for multiple divisions. They would have an envelope for Division A and a letterhead for Division B. On the checkout page, they would want to bill these separately based on the products. So the ordering user would need to indicate where to bill the envelope and where to bill the letterhead.

The enhancement with Gift Certificates appears to be a very nice addition. Noting you are going to expand Split payment options, one option that has been noted in the Idea Portal is to allow Split Payments with Budgets. If a user with a budget makes a purchase above the budget then they can pay the difference with another payment method. This would really be a nice feature if you can set a site to allow this or NOT with a Budget as we have customers asking for this both ways.

Please see our new Gift Certificate feature released August 2023. https://support.aleyant.com/kb/a2722/gift-certificates.aspx

With this feature we're beginning to add split payments. Gift Certificate + Integrated or non-Integrated payment methods. We plan on enhancing this so split payments can happen for Integrated payment methods as well. (Two different credit cards)

We have customers asking for this regularly - and it's an accounting headache for us to work it through. For example, we have customers with sales people in the field who have certain items that are paid by the company and other items they expect the sales folks to cover. I've had to create multiple sites for users but they aren't happy with that solution since now their folks have to go to multiple sites. I also have customers who want to cover the first $X amount and over that the user pays - but not in the way that a promo code could work.

The ability to split payments over a couple payment methods including a budget and/or credit applied to a user is not just a good idea it is imperative to continue to grow B2B relationships and to be competitive in a B2C environment.  These are common payment options on even simple online storefront sites, so I hope this is added to Pressero in the very near future.

Ah, now I understand why I couldn't find it.  It isn't an actual Idea withing this portal, yet.

The reason that I didn't mention budgets is because Aleyant has been adamant that budgets are not a form of payment.   I had brought up that capability on the old user forum some time ago, as well.  I do have a separate Idea about gift cards that could solve your issue with budgets, btw.

The idea would be to create a virtual, refillable gift card that could be assigned to users, groups, locations, etc.  That would be used first, with the rest being able to be paid for with a credit card.

Sure Jim. Here is the link to our KB article on Budgets in a B2B store.

    https://support.aleyant.com/kb/a536/ch_-062a-budgets-b2b-sites-only.aspx

We already have the ability to assign a budget to a user/group/site, but once the budget is depleted then the user can't continue to order. Looking to improve on this to include this type of functionality of then giving the option to pay the remainder of a balance with another payment method.

Can you provide a link for your suggestion?  I can't find it by searching for budget.

Thanks Jim, I’m going to merge this with another idea I have in system that is similar. Looking at an enhancement to the budget function that could allow this concept.
