To be able to more easily create a process built from each step in the production resources, and being able to use that process on new pricing engine builds so operations doesn't need to time track each and every little step, but they are still accounted for in reporting as individual.
Thanks Lew! My team and I are reviewing some improvements here and your feedback will be very helpful in determining our changes.
Hi Chris:
For and given product lets say there is 4 or 5 production steps to get it from begining to end, instead of having an operations team member track time for all steps individually, on the back end we would like to be able to "combine" each individual step, and dictate what percentage of the total time the whole process something should take.
So for example:
Process: Booklet Making
Steps: Cut / Score / Stitch / Fold / Facetrim
Percentages: 5% / 5%/ 50%/ 20% / 20%
A Operations person would only track into the process of "Booklet Making", and let's say it took 60 minutes overall - the system would assign:
3 minutes / 3 minutes / 30 minutes / 12 minutes / 12 minutes
Essentially, we would like a mechanism to still capture time spent on projects, but not have our operations people running back and forth clicking the "start" button a bunch of times, it leads to errors, and takes more time than it should. This doesn't need to be THE solution, the spirit of the comment was to just get a better solution than the one currently available.
Hi Lew,
Can you explain in more detail what you mean. We are having a hard time understanding the concept.
