We would love to be able to add a percentage to a credit card for the processing fee. So if Joe pays by credit card he will be assessed a 3.5% fee of the entire order.
This would need to be at the cart checkout level not per item as development team has told us. The problem with a percentage increase at the item level is that credit card fees would not be taxable so for our local businesses this option is out.
In addition, if the percent changes up or down we would want to be able to blanket update not go in to thousands of products to update the credit card fee

I agree and here in Brazil people know that prices can be different depending on the payment method.
So question on this does your customer know you charge 3.5 % more for credit card or are you going to hide it in some way? I only ask because your customer is already seeing pricing under the actual product will they question this increase when they go to check out if they are given an invoice vs credit card method and the cc is higher?
