If a customer places a reorder, the system should detect any updates to the template at the shopping cart stage and prompt the customer to review them. Customers should be required to edit and re-proof the re-ordered product before proceeding to checkout.
While this is a common situation for customizable templates, the same approach could also add value for products involving pricing changes, file uploads or form entries.
