We offer a range of add-on features for signs, including those that change the price and the necessary output file. A simple example is a sign panel that may have grommets or not. If we charge additional for the grommets, we have to separate out the product in order to avoid them saying no grommets on pricing, but then selecting the grommets in the e-doc builder template or vice versa, either way, leaving the production team confused and the client not getting what they want. Currently, we have to have these as separate products to avoid mismatched information from clients.
It would be nice if a client could select the add-on in the pricing engine, and then the appropriate e-doc template would be opened for the user to customize. We could link several edocs to a single product, but have it pull the appropriate one based on a pricing engine option.
I think the best solution is for the price engine to send the dynamic data for the selected options to a single edoc template, which would allow us to display or hide the placement of the eyelets and, more importantly, define the heights and widths of the document.
Because, at the moment, for the same product with the same finishes, if we want to offer it in different formats, we are forced to multiply the products and models. This poses a problem for SEO and user experience.
